On this day, NOTHING WORKED! All residents were in activities but Mama wouldn’t go in there to participate. While everyone was occupied, she wanted to shop in their rooms. I tried, along with staff, to get her shoes on to outside and burn some energy. However, Mama refused to put on shoes. She walked around and around INSIDE for hours. She woudn’t stop to eat or anything else.
The staff was happy I was there to at least keep an eye on her as they are often short of help. My asthma was cutting up but Dementia does not care. It is really mind-blowing. This is US and Dementia is REAL. Our new normal.
I feel so blindsided by some of this. There is no way I’d keep this to myself. Everyone needs to be AWARE of what could be. None of us are exempt.
